Meet the team behind Mama’s Magic & Mojo
As Featured In & On…
The Shop Team
Mama’s Magic & Mojo is very much a family run shop and has been for 31 years. The shop is run, worked in, championed and supported by family and that is the way it will always be. So let’s meet the MM&M shop team and get to know the family.
Mama Sal
Hi, I’m Mama Sal and I am a traditional witch, voodoo mama (New Orleans voodoo) and author based in Lancashire, just around the corner from the famous Pendle Hill which was the site of the Lancashire Witch Trials. I am a barefoot in the grass, foraging, natural living, homesteading, nature-loving, folk magic practitioner and was born and raised as a traditional witch over 47 years ago. I have had the honour and pleasure of writing for, being interviewed for, or working with some amazing companies, brands, and media over the years such as The BBC, The Daily Mail, Fox News, USA Today, Reuters, The Walt Disney Corporation, Spirit & Destiny Magazine, Fate & Fortune Magazine and many, many more. I love collaborating with brands and businesses and love working with the media because I feel that traditional witches and folk magic are often overshadowed by Wicca. I have been teaching on the subject of folk magic, conjure and New Orleans Voodoo since 1995 and have taught, run, created and spoken at over 750 workshops and courses. With folk magic, the way we all learn is to be taught by another as back in the days of old, we didn’t have instruction books like we do now, and let’s face it, the books on traditional witchcraft you can buy these days are actually just Wicca books disguised as trad, because they wouldn’t mention worshipping deities if they were true traditional witchcraft now would they? 😉 Although raised as a British folk witch (I have British and Irish heritage) I am also fully trained in Conjure (also known as rootwork/hoodoo) and New Orleans Voodoo and have been pretty much all my life due to my family being Creole. I am hugely proud of my Creole heritage and that is easily seen when I am running around cooking for everyone and making sure everyone is OK. I am part of a voodoo house and I am affectionately known within the house as Mama Sal, I also have Cherokee lineage too, so a real mix! British, Irish, Creole and Cherokee! I was the founder and former owner of The Village Witch Shop, which was the UK’s largest witchcraft shop of its type at its time and was since 1995. However, in 2019, I handed the shop down to my eldest daughter Amy, who now then closed The Village Witch to work with me here at The Lancashire Witch in 2022 (which then morphed into Mama’s Magic & Mojo in 2024), the 2 shops merged as we moved from South to North yet our traditions stayed the same. To bring folk magic, that we love, respect and cherish to you with care, attention to detail and knowledge. I’m also the Mama of our Voodoo house and called the local herb whore because of my very large collection of herbs, roots and botanicals.
I am an urban micro-homesteader, forager, and qualified complementary therapist. I am a qualified life coach, business coach, nutritionist, flower remedy practitioner, and many other natural therapies, and am married, with gorgeous children, just like I was and all the children before me in my family, they were raised as witches too. They are, by far, my biggest achievement, and being a Mum is my favourite job in the world. I am also a Grandma to a bonny wee bairn!
I love to paint, work on mixed media art, digital art, and other art and craft pieces. I run a web development company and I used to be a primary school teacher and SENCO but left that behind when I moved back home, ‘up North’. I also write music (under the name Serasola and have done since the early 90’s). And last but not least, I am a huge gamer! I have been playing World of Warcraft since it started in 2004 (I play a Holy Priest in case you were wondering!), I also play many, many other PC/Console games as well as owning a rather large board game collection.
Magic to me, isn’t a hobby, it’s my entire way of life, my being, and it is held deep in my core. I work with all sides of magic and am equally happy to heal as I am to hex (when needed). I am also a Guardian (see below).

Amy / Elleiah
Amy is our resident Tarot Queen. Reading both Tarot and Oracle cards since she was 5 years old and professionally for the past 8 years, Amy has an amazing reputation within the tarot world. We are privileged to have her here at the shop. But I am even more proud of her, as she is my daughter. As Amy was raised as folk witch and working with New Orleans Voodoo, you will often see here about the shop popping herbs in vials or running around after her gorgeous little boy, who has become quite the shop mascot since he was born 😉 She has a real natural talent when it comes to reading the cards. I never taught her tarot as reading cards was and still is, not my thing, but she has an amazing flare for them and often leaves her reading clients astonished at her accuracy. You can visit her website here: www.empoweredmagic.co.uk. Amy is also a Guardian (see below) and a Mama in Training for our voodoo house.
Robin
With an interest in witchcraft and magic since a young child, Robin grew up reading and learning the ways of the witch. A powerhouse of energy, Robin is also a teacher/trainer of Qi Chong and has a deep understanding of Taoism and other Eastern practices including Chinese medicine. He has interest in British Folk Magic but his love for voodoo has been with him all his life (as he will rightly tell you if you ask him!). He is a voodoo boy through and through, and Creole 🙂
Often described as ‘so laid back he is almost horizontal’, Robin is a source of calm and grounding to the team, but don’t let that calmness fool you. This energy powerhouse knows his stuff 😉 He is also the MC in our Voodoo house. Robin is also a guardian.
Robin is also a talented singer songwriter. You can find his website here: www.robinstonemusic.co.uk

Emma
Emma is probably the biggest champion of MM&M in the world, not just because she loves the shop but also because she is very much part of Mama Sal’s family. She is full of knowledge of both British Folk Magic & New Orleans Voodoo and as such is one of the leaders of our voodoo house. Her dry wit and perfectly timed sarcasm can also cause much hilarity in the shop 😉 Emma is also a guardian.
Whilst Mama Sal is a herb whore, Emma is a book whore. She has so many books that recently she has had to revamp her house to fit in more bookshelves! I kid you not!
You can find Emma at Cherished Little Book Gems.
Dave
Who doesn’t love a man in eyeliner? And Mama Sal loves this man even more because he is her little brother. Dave is an all round occult dude, with love and knowledge in British Folk Magic and also New Orleans Voodoo, he can twist his hand to anything. He is also Mama Sal’s anchor when pathwalking or doing retreat days. You’ll often find him in the shop muttering about how he can’t find anything or making sure Mama Sal eats and drinks enough. Even though he is the little brother, he really does look after his big sister very, very well. And she loves him so much.
Dave is a member of the voodoo house and also a guardian.

Sarah
Sarah is Dave’s wife which means is she is also Mama Sal’s sister in law! She is both British Folk Magic and New Orleans Voodoo and also an amazing artist. You’ll see some of her paintings in the shop especially the large one of the Trough Of Bowland behind Mama Sal’s desk.
Sarah is our mermaid, with a love for the sea and also La Sirene, she took a step back from magic for a while but we are so glad she is back with us now. She is also a member of our voodoo house.
Claire
Claire has been interested in witchcraft & magic ever since she was a small child. She has spent most of her life learning all about witchcraft. Claire is a life long folk witch & has been practicing New Orleans Voodoo for over a year. She has a love of candle magic & Tarot Cards.
Claire can put her hand to British Folk Magic and New Orleans Voodoo and can often be found in the shop laughing with Mama Sal and generally causing chaos. She brightens up the shop and we love having her around! She is really arty crafty too and makes lots of lovely items, including a rather snazzy Tardis walking frame 😉
Claire is a member of the voodoo house and also a guardian.

Myra
Myra writes… “I was an unusual child and into witchcraft and the occult from an early age. I mixed potions from anything I could find and read Misty magazines. As I got older life got in the way until a chance meeting at work renewed my interest. Attending witchfests and other events. Then I found Mama Sal on FB and started to learn about real witchcraft with sub boxes and the help I needed to grow. I now feel confident enough to do my own spells, my advice is to start simple with easy spells and don’t forget the power is you not your ingredients. I am also a proud Creole and House of the Rose family member learning about the LOA after being chosen by Marie Laveau.”
Myra is a member of the voodoo house and a guardian.
The Guardians
The Guardians were formed over 12 years ago, some of stayed, some have left, some new ones have joined within that time, but we always remain a tight family of people who are there to protect the shop, our customers, the coven and the house, during workshops, pathwalking sessions, past life regressions, ouija board sessions, retreat days and within spellwork situations. Each guardian has their own field of expertise.
